Notification Preferences

Yapster places huge priority on improving work-life balance. 💪

The first step here is to make sure you configure your notification settings.

You can always update and customise your notifications and you can do so by clicking on the settings cog in the top left corner and selecting ‘notification preferences'.

The first item you will see is the option to snooze alerts. Use the toggle to turn this on and off. This option is perfect for silencing your Yapster notifications for short periods. Think of this option as our version of Do Not Disturb, especially useful if you're heading into a team briefing or meeting.

Next you will be able to choose from three options.

  1. 'Whenever I receive a yap' - by selecting this option, you will be notified every time you receive a yap

  2. 'Never' - by selecting this option, your notification will be muted! (great to have on if you're on holidays 🏖️)

  3. 'Selected hours only' - by selecting this option, an advanced menu will be opened allowing you to select the hours and the days you prefer to get notifications (this is helpful when your shifts are different all the time).

Yapster notifications

Yapster has three different types of notifications:

  1. App badges - Displayed on the Yapster App on a user’s home screen. App badges show the number of notifications you have within Yapster.

  2. In app badges - Once you're in the Yapster app, there are two types of notifications. You will see the number of unread messages in each conversation (1-2-1 yaps or group yaps) and you will also the notifications at the bottom in (yaps, newsfeed and activity tabs).

  3. Push notifications - These are sent to your device (unless they are snoozed) to tell you a couple of different things:
    - Every time a message is sent in a group message you are a participant in. Not relevant to you? Here's how to mute particular chats.
    - Every time you are sent a 1-2-1 message
    - Every time you are @ mentioned in a conversation or newsfeed post
    - Every time an announcement post is shared on your company-wide newsfeed.

🤔I've come back from annual leave and have hundreds of messages in group chats that aren't relevant to me anymore - what do I do?🤔

The clear all unread badges button in your notifications settings will do the trick!
